My grandmother told me the story of Shìłdii Rock when I was young.
It interested me - the tale of a man turning into a rock grasped my imagination.

As I got older and began to write my own stories, I realized I wanted to explore
how our traditional stories are told, the lessons they offer.

Our culture is built on respect. In the past, our men had their work, women had
their work. That was how they survived in this harsh environment we call home.

I believe the story of Shìłdii showcases that we need to continue to uphold our traditions,
as they relate to the idea of respecting our Elders. What do you think?

In the summer of 2021, I packed my cameras and a drone and travelled along the river to
Shìłdii Rock. I thought about how I could capture the essence of this heritage site.

The 3D scan exceeded my expectations. The final scan feels like you're there. I'm
happy we captured it because at some point in the future the Rock will collapse.

When it is no longer there, a vital piece of our history and our stories will be
gone. That scan can be a point of remembrance for that story.
